The VAN LOONS FAMILY
The man of few words, but great deeds! Mr. Louis van Loon, Poppel Belgium. A craftsman, who became famous because of his excellent results. His pigeons proved to possess unheard of determination and stamina, in other words pigeons that would come home through thick and thin.
When searching for crossing material for their sublime Janssen colony, the Eijerkamp family 30 yearsago, introduced the van Loon pigeons to their breeding lofts and they immediately became infatuated with them. They brought in an outstanding group of breeders from Jaap Grootendorst and crossed them on their best Janssen pigeons. This cross resulted in immediate success, resulting in “John” (co-winner of the National Vitesse Championship), “Linda” (2 nd National Ace Pigeon WHZB) and “Flits” (2 nd Olympiade pigeon Speed 1995). In the early years, the master himself was visited in Poppel and children and grandchildren of his foundation pigeons were acquired. They also obtained the best of the best van Loon pigeons where ever they could in the Netherlands. Pigeons from Anton van Haaren played an important part, from Aad van Berkel the “Silver Shadow” (6 x 1 st ) and his line were added to the breeding loft in Brummen, from Leo van de Werf the super breeding pair of “Louis” x “Suzanne” were acquired, from Staf Theeuwes “Chicago” an absolute flag bearer put a stamp on the Greenfield Stud and last but certainly not least from Leo van de Werf “Don Leo” and his exceptional brother “Fabio” produced magnificently for Team Eijerkamp.
It was descendants from these pigeons that Oscar and Linda laid the foundations of their exceptional van Loon racing pigeons.
